Negotiations/
May 2010 Update:
“.....Over the past several months staff from the City Manager’s Office,
Legal Services and Solid Waste Operations have been negotiating with
representatives from Plasco on the Long-Term Waste Conversion Agreement
in
accordance with Council’s approval of June 2, 2008. It is expected that
these negotiations will be successfully concluded in the near term. A
report
will be brought forward to Committee and Council outlining the details
of the
Agreement as well as providing a summary of the performance of the
demonstration facility. The agreement will not be signed until after the
committee and Council meetings take place.
In the interim, Plasco will continue operation of its demonstration
facility on
Trail Road
and provide data to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE). Based
on
this data, the MOE will make a determination on Plasco’s technology for
commercial use. A report will not be brought to Committee and Council
until MOE approval is obtained....” - Kent Kirkpatrick, City Manager
